Gastroenterologist

Dr. Karl Herba is a Gastroenterologist and Interventional Endoscopist with a special interest in Bowel Cancer Surveillance and Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy. In addition to Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy, Dr Herba has particular expertise in Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), Endoscopic mucosal resection, and Enteral Stenting. He also has extensive clinical experience in the endoscopic diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal cancers.


Dr Herba completed his advanced training in Gastroenterology at the McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, Canada. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and has completed advanced endoscopy fellowship training in ERCP, EUS, and Interventional Endoscopy at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth as well as at St. George Hospital in Sydney.


Dr Herba was a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Montreal prior to moving to Australia and has a strong commitment to clinical outcomes research and teaching in gastrointestinal endoscopy. He is a Visiting Medical Officer at the Northern Beaches Hospital. He offers public endoscopy at the Northern Beaches Hospital for patients from the Northern Beaches area and privately funded endoscopy at the Northern Beaches Hospital and the Sydney Adventist Hospital.


Dr Herba holds Conjoint Committee Accreditation in Australia for Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).
